Quicksilver and Tracking you time

Hi,

Is there anyway of using quicksilver to track your time?

Something similar to append to file, but also adds the date/time? Or maybe a start/stop timer that you can adds notes to.

Any ideas would be great?

Thanks.

Effective Standing Orders

I thought 43f readers might enjoy this. Diana Hsieh on making it hard to ignore your orders to yourself. Good point about not needing a reminder when there's already a natural prompt to think about the thing in question.

Vitalist ping

Is anyone using Vitalist these days?

I have started playing with it, mainly because it works well on my mobile phone(s) and my N810 tablet.

There are some deficiencies so I haven't thrown out my index cards yet, but it is quite good.

From Mind Map to NA

How do I get from the mind mapping and project brainstorm yellow pad paper to next actions? Here is my current process:

  1. Mind Map and Brainstorm ideas on yellow pad paper (I always do this to easily find in fies.

  2. Place mind map and Brainstorm files in Inbox for review and process.

  3. At Inbox review I either make a new project folder (if needed) or place applicable document in the existing project folder.

  4. At weekly review I review documents in the folder and create next actions list on my PDA.

What to Do With Old (Digital) Files

This is a pretty simple question, and I have a couple of ideas, but I wanted to ping you all to see what you're up to on this front.

My main documents folder (~/Documents/trunk for those of you scoring at home) is up to about 5.5GB. A lot of this is cruft. Some of it is from prior school semesters. Some of it is graphics files that aren't actively being used. Some of it is client work. (This should be moving to Subversion soon, however.) I'm sure some of it is even duplicate work. For instance, flat .jpg copies of a Fireworks PNG or Photoshop PSD.

Converting Mail.app Smart Mailbox to Mailbox

Hi all Is there any way to convert a Smart Mailbox to a regular Mailbox using Mail.app? I'm using Smart Mailboxes to collate all relevant emails for each project. However when the project is complete I want to put the project's Smart Mailbox into a Completed folder, however I can't drop SM's into a folder. Is there a work around for this? I guess the essence of GTD is deleting all emails that have been dealt with/completed, I'm just not ready to let go yet!!

Email Has Replaced The Telephone

It's almost 2008 and the fact is: email has replaced the phone. Email is the number one business tool.

Why do I say this? Our company email server exchange is down and our business is almost paralyzed, (at least for the next few minutes.)

Have you noticed that most of us would rather send an email then pick up the phone?

Calling someone takes effort: you have be "on" so to speak. You have to be polite and use the right tone and more importantly you have to think in real time rather than composing your thoughts and typing away. Thinking on your feet is way too hard.
