BlockSite: Firefox Extension to Block Timewasters

Thought the below might be of interest to the 43 Folders crowd as as a timewaster-blocker. I had an idea -- a Firefox extension that removed a site from your online existence. Attempts to directly access the site would be blocked, but, additionally, links to that site posted anywhere else would be rewritten merely to reflect the link text (removing the link text with the link would create ugly holes in whatever you were reading). This wouldn't be great for parental blocking, but is great to eliminate time-wasting websites, or sites you just never want to stumble across again. Use in good health ... 2 Comments

That's a good idea, but that implementation might be a bit drastic, i.e., never being able to get to those sites. Over at LifeHacker, they have a script for a greasemonkey extension that lets you block certain cites until a particular time of day, e.g., you can't browse fun stuff until after 3 p.m. http://www.lifehacker.com/software/feature/geek-to-live-ban-timewasting-web-sites-146448.php » POSTED IN:
