I'm working on an article about email tricks for one of your finer magazines, and -- as you might imagine -- when it comes to the inevitable Windows stuff, I'm a bit light in the useful tips department. So, I turn to you Redmond-using smarties for help. Do you have a favorite application, plugin, trick, or hack for bending Windows email to your will? Double-credit for Outlook add-ons that garden-variety users can install without fancy root-style access. Whence comes your magic Windows fu? 64 Comments

As far as I can tell, the only way to become more productive with Outlook is to quit your corporate day job so you don't have to use Outlook any more. No offense... just kidding! Let's see... Rules are relatively easy to set up on Outlook. It is, however, easy to overdo them. I've seen all sorts of Outlook email setups in which incoming email is automatically funneled to a hundred different folders. This, I think, defeats one of the greatest features of Outlook, which is very simple drag and drop capabilities. As previous posts have mentioned, drag and drop makes it easy to implement a GTDesque action approach to folders. Worst features: The oh so slow and cumbersome search line. The way the Outlook Calendar's "invitations" turn me into a passive drone of the corporation. » POSTED IN:
