Icons for Safari favorites

I’m a big fan of the Bookmarks Bar in Safari, and I try to keep mine tidy, up to date, and optimized for whatever projects I’m working on at the time. You probably already know to rename and shorten the buttons to conserve space, but, by pulling up the “Show Special Characters” menu, you can also drop in Symbols and Zapf Dingbats to use like little icons. If there’s an image that suits a given bookmark or folder, you can use just that single character and free up precious screen real estate for even more bookmarks. Plus it looks kind of cool. 12 Comments

Nice. I had not thought to use these special characters to the extent you have. I use the + sign to indicate 'add to' though. Such as +bl to add to bloglines or +diu to add to del.icio.us (actually, I use nutr.itio.us but you get it...). + works any platform too. Important to me as I use the same bookmark file on OS X, XP and *nix. » POSTED IN:
