Looking to get the "achiever" me back.

Hi 43F! I'm Marie and I don't know why exactly it's called "43" Folders. I'm going through David Allen's book right now. Just bought a bunch of folders and am still wondering where I could get a good deal on a desktop labeler. I'll try again tomorrow. I'm known to be very proactive and achiever type, being a former national student leader and all but it seems for the past year or so since taking my CPA boards (or getting a boyfriend?) I haven't been organized with my goals or my life. I can't seem to get anything concrete done. So I hope GTD will help me get somewhere. I'll try. See you around guys. 1 Comment

Hi, sxyshandy, and welcome to 43f. By the way, it's 43 because that's how many it take to make a real-world tickler file: 31 folders for the days of the month plus 12 for the months of the year. However, I and many others use the Internet for reminders instead of shuffling all that paper. Google Calendar + scheduled emails from my personal server FTW! GTD can be really helpful in getting organized, but make sure you're reading it for concepts; don't try to figure out and copy anybody else's style of implementation. The great part about GTD is that it's a really open framework that allows you to set things up with whatever tools and structure that work best for you. Also, don't try to get everything set up perfectly before you start using the system... that'll be a waste of time, because I guarantee that you'll spend at least the first six months tweaking things anyway. » POSTED IN:
