Vox Pop: What's on your iPhone app wish list?
Merlin Mann | Oct 17 2007
Now that Steve has announced there's an iPhone/iPod Touch SDK coming in February, what's at the top of your application wish list? The Question to YouWhat’s the first application for iPhone you’d like to see? Where’s the biggest hole in your iPhone world right now? Perhaps not surprisingly, I'm hoping for a great, sync-able, no-internet-required task management application. Can't wait to see what my OmniFocus pals come up with. 68 Comments

Bluetooth GPS is where it's at.Submitted by cebailey on October 17, 2007 - 2:06pm.
(First of all, a to-do list is a given, and OmniFocus would be even better--and I don't doubt it will be coming.) If Apple (or an enterprising programmer) would add the Serial Port Profile for Bluetooth, we'd be able to connect a wide array of Bluetooth GPS receivers to the iPhone. Navizon already proved that it's relatively easy to pipe coordinates to the Google Maps application, and GMaps on the iPhone is lightyears ahead of the UI I've used on portable GPSes (or other phones with Google Maps Mobile). Plus, if it's external, it won't be such a battery suck on the iPhone, which is a good thing... and I could also leave a dedicated one in my car that's always tracking the satellites so I don't have to wait to acquire... and I could do a world of other neat stuff with the Serial Port Profile... » POSTED IN:
