Not sure... but want to get better

I have read the book... and am still not sure it is the right system for me. However I am not sure it isnt...

I am having trouble with the todo list idea. The problem is surely too many buckets for information, which have stemmed lately from my push to write everything down that I might need to remember.

I put recurring work reminders in Outlook (for the pop up nag) Use MS One Note for most notes and other items. Have an account at remember the milk for tasks and Gcal syncing with my treo 700p OTA (using http://www.goosync.com).

I am not sure how to make the system work for me... One thought is to use One Note to keep information, when the Information needs to travel put it in RTM with a reminder sent to the treo (until they sync, which I believe is in the works).

Really though I want to find a system that works for me and the selection process is anything but productive.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

@derek: simplify

Hey derek. I don't know what kind of job you have, i.e. how many interruptions, how much time you're with your computer, etc., but I would recommend in general trying to simplify, trying to go low-tech if at all possible. You want your system to be something you can trust completely; the fewer moving parts, in that respect, the better.

Try implementing your 'cleanup'/'weekly review' with large pieces of white paper & index cards and go through the satisfying practice of physically handling symbols of all your tasks and taping them to the wall or spread them out on your desk or whatever. Introduce technology only when needed.

Just a thought.

Cranking

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »
