Palm OS Outliners

Hey gurus, I am overwhelmed by choices and I'd like some input.

I am experimentimng with the following outliners.

  • Shadowplan
  • Bonsai
  • ThoughtManager
  • Brainforest

I'd be interested in comments and advice on using any or all of these.

I'd consider myself a somewhat sophisticated Palm user, but I'm new to outliners and I'd like simplicity in design, and ease of use over feature overload.

I don't want to spend my time learning to work with an outliner at the cost of my actual work not getting done. Intuitive usage is key, otherwise I'll end up using a paper and pen, and constantly losing that paper as well.

Thanks,

Chris

Can't speak to the other...

Can't speak to the other outliners, but ThoughtManager is a solid choice if:

1) you use Windows (for the desktop companion app)

2) if you really just want an outliner with very basic task tracking capabilities

For me, the selling point was the desktop companion app. I no longer use the Palm as part of my core GTD system. Therefore, I can not comment on recent developments with TM.

A word of warning, unless you have very simple projects, TM is not up to project management duty. OTOH, I never found any PDA project management tools that were satisfactory. In the end, it is just so much easier to do project management on a notebook computer.
