I just started to sip the koolaid/read the book, so I'll mostly be observing and soaking up the goodness. I have high hopes for this approach since it seems capable of incorporating my eclectic ideas and plans. I run my own business importing handicrafts from Morocco, and I am also a professional henna artist. To keep the roof over my head I work in a law firm doing software support at night; I like the security of a regular paycheck and benefits, plus the job uses the other side of my brain so I stay balanced. I found GTD through Lifehacker which I found through Consumerist which I found through Stay Free, a local (Brooklyn) blog. I have tried so many methods to organize my life and searched for planners and software and devices to help me. GTD you're my only hope! I'm still in the first chapter of the book, and have been reading 43F for a few weeks and I am starting to see how all my plans, that never fit any categories before, can now be incorporated into one system. At least that is my hope. I can see myself leaving the house to run errands, knowing that I can do all the little things for all my various projects, and not find myself standing in a store staring into space wondering if there was anything I forgot. My wish is to get a system that works so well that my brain is freed up for creative thoughts and plans. I am really looking forward to that. Also, I get a total geekasm at the thought of getting organized. My big fear is that I won't keep it up; I tend to get excited and then lose interest in projects. I hope that I can come here and get a shot of inspiration to keep up with the system. 8 Comments

It comes from the Jonestown tragedy in Guyana in about 1978. Cult leader Jim Jones had his followers drink Kool-aid with Cyanide (?) in it in order to comit mass suicide. The details are available on line, and it's pretty gruesome. Actually it wasn't even Kool-Aid :-) In Jonestown they used Flavoraid, a knock-off of Kool-Aid. Cultists are cheap. Kool-Aid is just more ubiquitous. Plus, it is a play on "Cool", when Kool-Aid Drinker is used as a pejorative. » POSTED IN:
