What do you know about Thunderbird?

I've never used Thunderbird, but I was wondering if it would be worth switching to. What has been everyone's (anyone's) experience with it, and how does it rate compared to other email clients?

(Should I be looking at Macworld.com instead?)

We use Entourage at the office. My boss asked me if I knew anything about Thunderbird, and I didn't. I figured I'd ask around here, knowing how many of you guys are particular about email apps.

So Thunderbird is better for portability?
