Cheap(er) pens like Cross Ion?

I bought a Cross Ion pen after reading some recommendations and I am very impressed with it. To be honest, I have never really paid attention to pens in the past - I have just used whatever was lying around - but now I am convinced that I could be doing with a supply of decent pens around.

Ideally what I would like is a pen (or set of pens) that is more of a standard shape than the Cross Ion, a bit cheaper, that writes exactly the same. I am left-handed and the fact that the ink from the Ion writes clear, smoothly and dries quickly is critical. Actually I would buy a few more Cross Ions but I know that, while my Ion is great for casual notes, its form factor would bother me when I was writing more extensively.

Thx,
David

Oh this is going to...

Oh this is going to get into so many bad things...no girl who has ever ventured into this territory for me on a date, has ever returned.

For me the Parker Jotter is the thing...I did not always know this. I was a unibal micro, clipped to my shirt while traveling sort of guy...but it changed.

I worship one TV person. Aaron Sorkin. The creator of Sports Night and the West Wing.

Sorkin went on and on in interviews about the Jotter, even going so far as to make it the tool of both President Bartlet and Toby Zeigler. So I had to try.

My friend Mike works in a pen store, one of those 1000 dollar a pen store. So he would talk to me about the permanance of quality pens, how they are better. I laughed. Screw that, I am an activist and a proletariat. 20 bucks for a pen is insane.

Then I found the Jotter. The way it felt in my hand, the fact that Sorkin loved them, and the fact that there 6 bucks. Okay. Good. Covered. same jotter for a while, refillable. Got it.

I read a study about the amount of plastic created by disposable pens. Shocking.

So instead of buying a 100 dollar Mont Blanc, I bought 3 Jotters. Done.

Now I feel less guilt about making the moleskine a splurge item. I am not buying pens.

See, and my mother wonders why girls dont like me. I can wax about Jotters, and the joy of a ground ball thrown from my dad, but none of it is half way. its all poetry and passion. Nothing is just a job, or just fun.
