Cheap(er) pens like Cross Ion?

I bought a Cross Ion pen after reading some recommendations and I am very impressed with it. To be honest, I have never really paid attention to pens in the past - I have just used whatever was lying around - but now I am convinced that I could be doing with a supply of decent pens around.

Ideally what I would like is a pen (or set of pens) that is more of a standard shape than the Cross Ion, a bit cheaper, that writes exactly the same. I am left-handed and the fact that the ink from the Ion writes clear, smoothly and dries quickly is critical. Actually I would buy a few more Cross Ions but I know that, while my Ion is great for casual notes, its form factor would bother me when I was writing more extensively.

Thx,
David

Agreed on the Parker Jotter....

Agreed on the Parker Jotter. For leftys the gel ink is great. If you want to splurge a little, for about $20 you can get the Parker Infusion (http://www.parkerpen.com/sanford/consumer/parker/jhtml/collectionsDetail.jhtml?attributeId=PARKERATT1000013). It takes the same gel ink and has a nice heavy feel.

I've have good luck with the Bic Atlantis and Bic Velocity for cheap pens that I can leave lying around in strategic places.

The Fisher Bullet is so nice for the small size but I find their ink is not lefty-friendly.

I am confessed pen addict. I've got enough pens that I can use a different one every week for a year! Take a look at PENWA (http://www.penwa.com) for a real nice selection. They are a great source for refills.

I recently treated myself to a promotion gift and got a Montblanc Starwalker. This is truly the best pen I have ever had and I now understand why Montblanc is a "writing instrument" and not just another pen. They are costly but the reward is worth it.
