Question about wording a job posting
Austin Moody | Jul 27 2006
It is pretty rare, but I'm actually getting to hire someone for my small IT team. A question I have as I write this job post for the local classifieds (and potentially other places). If I'm listing out the types of things to be managed (windows servers, linux servers, firewalls, etc... etc...) should I bother with the words "Experience Required". If I'm listing out everything shouldn't someone reading it assume that some experience would be required? Silly question... but it is bothering and I just got back from vacation and haven't gotten back up to speed yet. 2 Comments

I would make sure to specify that you want experience, and how much, with your posting. Consider that some people may read a job description and assume someone else to be training them, or that they can pick it up as they go along. So always list requirements unless you want to spend a lot of time sitting through interviews with people who can't do the job you want them to. » POSTED IN:
