Whoever invented this psychotic "feature" for cell phones to play music at callers while they wait for some idiot to answer the damn phone should be tortured within an inch of his or her life many times over. This is the most irritating thing about cell phones that I have come across! (And I used to be a barista at Starbucks, epicenter of cell phone faux pas.) Does anyone know who invented this insanity? And the address of said person? 11 Comments

all in the contextSubmitted by Paul on July 19, 2006 - 11:58am.
The main customers for this kind of service, I would assume, are teens. Most teens' calls are from their friends, people with whom they want to share their musical tastes. In that context, there's really nothing rude or annoying about it at all - it's like a stereo playing my music at my party. All's good unless it's too loud and the neighbors are irritated. Now, when a lot of the people who call someone are calling for reasons other than social, I agree it could be really, really painful. Especially because I've got a co-worker who's a huge fan of Celine Dion. I'd have to resort to text messaging with her. » POSTED IN:
