Whoever invented this psychotic "feature" for cell phones to play music at callers while they wait for some idiot to answer the damn phone should be tortured within an inch of his or her life many times over. This is the most irritating thing about cell phones that I have come across! (And I used to be a barista at Starbucks, epicenter of cell phone faux pas.) Does anyone know who invented this insanity? If you don't know what a ringback tone is, you'll know it when you hear it. And should you call someone and get one, its time to re-evaluate your friendship with that person. Seriously. Nothing says "class" like having "Hollaback Girl" blare in your ear when you call someone, ya? Legitimate uses? It would only be interesting if you COULD personalize it with your own content. I wouldn't find it offensive to call someone and hear the "thinking" music from Jeopardy play, for example. Or Berko's pontification on business users having a nice greeting while the caller waits. You could even mix it up and change it daily as a status message; "I'm currently off-site on a wicked awesome team-building crapathon with my fellow staff members in the middle of nowhere, but I will be answering shortly if I can." I don't know if that is useful or not. Now someone will surely chime in and accuse me of playa' hatin' on on the OG's with ringback. Holla! » POSTED IN:
