Linux GTD roll call
dro0g | Oct 26 2005
Hi everyone, Anyone else using Linux as their day-to-day OS? I switched my work laptop over completely a while ago, though I still run Windows under a VMWare VM for the sake of accessing Lotus Notes and a few other work requried Windows apps. What office pr0n tools have folks used under Linux? I've played around with VIMOutliner and GnomeTasks, along with several stand alone wikis. My team is using the NotesWiki template from OpenNTF for shared information and that's worked out fantastically. 38 Comments

^^^ Nevermind, it turns out that the gnome mini-commander doesn't function as a true shell. It's really only good for launching stuff, which is still useful, but it doesn't seem to understand redirects, so you can't append files. What I've been able to use is the "run application" thing. If you are using the default window manager, metacity, you can get to this window with Alt-F2. If you are running a different window manager with gnome, try what's described here. I'm running xfwm with gnome, but I'm installing the full xfce, and I'm going to check out if the command line panel application there can append files. It would be cool to show up the smug mac people with a slicker way of appending lists. » POSTED IN:
