Running Parallels and Windows on an iMac

Does anyone here have any experience running Parallels or heard much about it? What kind of virus/malware/spyware/etc. risks are there?

We're about to buy it for my Intel iMac at the office, and I'm wondering what to expect.

So the Windows environment is...

So the Windows environment is exposed to risk, while the Mac environment is safe? Would it be possible for it to make my Mac a carrier for something? You know, where the Mac isn't infected, but it can still spread viruses by attaching them to a file?
