Multiple Users/Fast User Switching and productivity
Brad Blackman | Jun 7 2006
Forgive me if this is covered elsewhere, but do any of you use multiple users (Fast User Switching) to manage multiple desktops at once? For example, one "user" for work-oriented stuff, and one for casual browsing, etc.? 6 Comments

I do this to an extent, and it works! Bit of background on my setup and work. Because of various requirements I do my work on Windows. I recently got a MacBook Pro with plenty of RAM to run Win2K3 comfortably inside Parallells Workstation. So when I'm working, I set Parallels to fullscreen mode. It takes up the whole monitor, and that Win2K3 installation doesn't have any toys or fun bookmarks installed. There isn't even any wallpaper. Pure work environment. It does help my productivity. I switch out to OSX for breaks and fun and then I go back into Win2K3 when it's time to get back to work. Though I'm embarrassed to admit that I never thought of using Fast User Switching for the same purpose. Kudos to you! That would work too and I'm going to try and incorporate that into my work. » POSTED IN:
