ADC: Analog to Digital Converter economically?
Russell | Nov 4 2006
Are there any solutions to converting handwriten notes in journals to text on the mac? I'm wanting to take my notes and convert them to a digital version that I can further manipulate to my needs. I just see it useful to have an analog archive and be able to convert that to digital pretty easily. I could type all my notes, but that becomes daunting after a while. I'm just wondering if there are solutions to scanning handwritten notes and having software take over to convert it to text. Or if someone does something like this and what success they are having. Thanks. 4 Comments

Ahhh... I see. I've been thinking of a similar type system. I guess as you use these tools you develop methods to use them more effectively as the volume of journals and index cards increases. Just some are further along than others. I agree with you that copying everything in my Moleskines and any handwritten note for that matter is not needed and seems excessive and doubly the work. A keyword txt file or something similar sounds like the ticket. My paranoia kicks in though and wonders what would happen if I lost a journal or one was destroyed in an incident. Then you run into the security/backup vs. convenience problem. I just started recently keeping an index in my Moleskines which was a duhh... moment for me, but the problem I have is that I don't go back and review and index as much as I should. That's just a personal laziness issue though... I am finding that I am advancing my use of indexing technology (if you want to call it that) as I use my journals and notes in different ways. Just interesting to think about. Thanks for the suggestion and the example of your system. You've given me some direction and frame work to customize for myself. Thanks again. » POSTED IN:
