ADC: Analog to Digital Converter economically?
Russell | Nov 4 2006
Are there any solutions to converting handwriten notes in journals to text on the mac? I'm wanting to take my notes and convert them to a digital version that I can further manipulate to my needs. I just see it useful to have an analog archive and be able to convert that to digital pretty easily. I could type all my notes, but that becomes daunting after a while. I'm just wondering if there are solutions to scanning handwritten notes and having software take over to convert it to text. Or if someone does something like this and what success they are having. Thanks. 4 Comments

I take handwritten notes in my Moleskine journal. Rather than digitize/recopy and index word for word, I create a digital index for searching. Personally, I use EverNote, but this could be done with any searchable text. I just make a new note for each page along with topic keywords covered on that page. For example: 11/4/06 Mol.1.146 (Moleskine, book 1, page 146) This way, when I am searching for info on a given topic, it is likely that some keyword will pop up to lead me to go have a look in my notebook. It's been very successful for me, and doesn't require a scanner, OCR software, and a huge investment of time. I generally don't have the need to manipulate the info once it's in the notebook, but it's a good reference system. » POSTED IN:
