Laptop Essential Apps?

I just bought me a Refurb iBook G4 from Apple for collegiate stuff. Are there any apps you folks can recommend? Perhaps something to keep my desktop (a mini G4) and lappy in sync, document-wise? I am all ears.

I'm not too knowledgeable about the syncing part but SuperDuper, which is a backup program, does syncing but somebody else may point you in a better direction than that. As to essential apps, there is only one essential app: Quicksilver. :)
