Entourage 2004 GTD Tool

I realize there is already an Entourage GTD thread but wanted to post this separately.

I've attached an Applescript that does the following:

  • Duplicates the selected task
  • Searches in the body of the new task for the next action (see task format below)
  • Gives the new task a title of the next action
  • Marks the old task as complete
  • If there are links to the old task then it opens the new task and reminds you that there were links
In order for the script to work the following must be true:
  • The attached script should be copied and pasted into Script Editor and saved in the "Documents/Microsoft User Data/Entourage Script Menu Items" folder.
  • GTD Projects are created as tasks with titles like this: "[Project X] - Action 1"
  • GTD Project actions are listed in the body of the task like this:
- Action 1
- Action 2
- Action 3

I have mine set up to run when I select a task and type Ctrl-G. With the right Custom View you can use this format ("[Project X]") to see your projects list.

I've only tested it in Entourage 2004 because that's all I have.

I offer up the script without any warrantee or guarantee of its suitability for anything. However, it works for me. :)
