gtd reference app
pmccredden | Jun 13 2006
Well I finally switched to a mac... and now the task of setting up my GTD system has started. I have decided to try out kGTD and so far I am very happy. What I am trying to do is find an application that will replace the functionality of zoot in windows for all my reference material. For instance, I would like to be able to clip from the net, archive emails, save word, excel and other files. The idea would be for them to be tagged with the project name in some way. I would obviously like a way to clip stuff without leaving the application that I am using. So if I am reading my email and I want to be able to send the email to the other application easily - maybe using the services menu. Does anyone have any suggestions? 7 Comments

I don't know what Zoot...Submitted by solidsnot on June 13, 2006 - 4:10am.
I don't know what Zoot is exactly (I did check out the website for it though) but it appears that you need either DEVONThink. Yojimbo is cheaper but less powerful. DEVONThink does just about anything and more if you take the time to figure out all of its features. I have used both and Yojimbo is nice for keeping notes and text but if you want to keep files and search them later, DEVONThink is the way to go. One note however, you won't find many apps on Mac OS that have tight integration with email. I don't believe either of these apps will actually allow you to send the email to them with the push of a button or click of the mouse. It is easy to highlight the text you want to save and then save a new note without leaving Mail or your email client of choice though. » POSTED IN:
