Pine

I don't think this has really anything to do with GTD but Emory's white paper brought it up. I've tried using Pine and have it set up and everything cooks with gas until I try to send something and it always times out over port 25. I'm not a command line/UNIX guru so I'm a little at a loss at what to do. Anybody use Pine that knows what I'm doing wrong? Daniel 7 Comments

Got it through Pine. Just set the timeout to 90 seconds vice 60. Works like a charm now. I tried to set the relay through postfix but somehow I don't have permission to mess with that and I can't do it through sudo and I don't know enough about why not to mess with it any more. :) I think that's the longest run-on sentence for me ever. ;) Ah, super. Glad you found the timeout var. I couldn't for the life of me remember what that was in pine. To be honest, Pine can do a lot of neat things. In fact, you should see some of the GTD kung-fu that is being done with pine! If you start here: http://www.ii.com/internet/messaging/pine/ You'll find all sorts of neat keyword stuff that can be done. Pine is a very, very capable email client. It is perfect for micro-mail-management or full-blown email assault. When I'm working a lot with document review and such, it is just easier to use Mail.app or Outlook, but it is certainly doable with Pine. » POSTED IN:
