Fujitsu ScanSnap for Mac
Mishaal | Feb 9 2006
I have just seen the Fujitsu ScanSnap and it sounds perfect. I'd like to scan and label all my paper documents then destroy the originals and be completly paperless. As I can't be the only one who has had this thought I would greatly appreciate your own experiences and opinions. 4 Comments

Change ScanSnap Settings in a SnapSubmitted by RandyChev on October 12, 2007 - 9:23am.
I've been using the ScanSnap for about a year now and love it. It feeds up to about 50 sheets at a time and converts to PDF or JPG. I prefer keeping the settings to minimal PDF settings to file archival copies of our paper invoices at work once the job is complete and paid for. The software that comes with it for Mac includes Acrobat Standard (Acrobat is only needed to alter the scanned files) and ScanSnap Manager which is what actually controls the scanner. Changing the scan settings in the ScanSnap Manager is straight forward but a pain if you have to switch from hires color scanning to lores black & white. Options that might be changed are file compression, scan resolution, file format, file naming, etc. The options are great but unfortunately the ScanSnap Manager does not save setting profiles. I've found combining this great Scanner with a utility Merlin has mentioned, rooSwitch, to be a great team. rooSwitch can save setting profiles for just about any Mac program including ScanSnap Manager. Adjust the settings for scanning invoices and then drop the ScanSnap Manager icon on rooSwitch to save those settings. Duplicate that profile and call it "Invoice Scans". Now you have a quick way to change all the settings for scanning your invoices. Now switch back to the default profile and change the Scan settings to scanning photographs. Go do rooSwitch and duplicate the default profile, which now contains your changes for photo scanning, and rename the duplicate "Hires Photos". The trick to remember is that whichever profile you have selected in rooSwitch will be changed when making changes in ScanSnap Manager. I have a profile called "Misc" that I switch to when mucking with the settings for a special project otherwise I'm changing my Invoices profile. Oh, to quickly get to these settings I use QuickSilver. Cmd-Space - "ro" gets the rooSwitch ap and "space" gets all my profile lists. ScanSnap profiles is the first because its used the most so its 6 key taps to having immediate control over my ScanSnap Manager profiles. Hope this helps those of you with a ScanSnap on a Mac. » POSTED IN:
