iTerm is a very spiffy open source terminal application for OS X. It's probably most popular (or at least best known) for its ability to run multiple windows in tabs, but it also seems to offer more (GUI-based) customization than Terminal.app. I get the feeling that this is the teminal app of choice for most Mac nerds, and I wondered if anyone has any hot iTerm tricks to share. I confess to finding the documentation a bit sparse, so I'd love to hear any awesome tips on Bookmarks, Scripts, etc. Isn't there a way, for example to automate yr SSH login and select default destination directories? Kindly `ls -a`. (Oh, verrrry droll Merlin) 7 Comments

I installed it recently to give it another try, but it actually crashed once -- not what you want to have happen in a term program, tabs or no. ;) That said, the tabs are nice to have around. There was a Ruby on Rails demo I linked to a couple of weeks ago that has a great deal of iTerm and TextMate usage, if anybody wants to see them in action: http://www.rubyonrails.com/media/video/rails_take2_with_sound.mov » POSTED IN:
