Inexpensive Fountain Pens

I'm interested in cheap fountain pens because the last time I had a really nice one, I lost it.

I currently have a new Lamy Safari extra fine nib and I love it. The only thing I'd change would be to have a slimmer pen -- this one is a little fat for where I keep it in my planner/purse.

Any suggestions for slimmer fountain pen that isn't expensive?

Or for that matter, any fountain pens that aren't expensive?

I'm on the waiting list for the Speeno now, but would like to know what the other options are out there.

Ha. Interesting about the...

Ha. Interesting about the Molskine differences! I'll pay a bit more attention! So far with the ruled Cahiers I haven't had a problem... I have noticed however, that some of my faster exercises do have issues with little blank spots in them, but I'm talking very very fast ovals that are very close together... so running over the ink multiple times may have some sort of effect... [think ovals from left to right overlayed and almost touching- can get a bit inky...]

BTW, about the handwriting exercises... I think some of it has helped me to realize which muscles I'm using when writing, etc. Hopefully with much more practice it'll make a difference. So far it's helped me to recognize how slowing down can really improve my script. I don' t really want perfect handwriting, I just want improved handwriting. I'm a bit worried that it'll never really get perfect. :) [You should see the snippet of my grandfather's writing we have... I'm shocked... it was practically out of a book... first time I saw it and realized it was his own hand, I freaked.]

About the post-its... never realized, but yes, the Legal-Lapis from Noodlers in my Pelikan Fine is definitely quite thick on the postit, the Red seemed to work quite well on the page from my Parker Fine. Allowing it to sit for quite a while it has dried out, but if I had touched it immediately it would have smudged I think... much more than the normal papers. I don't have my other inks (Skrip and Pelikan) on hand to test in relation to this. [Hell, I only have 2 real pens at the moment... guess I'll have to buy a few more... perhaps a Parker 51, a Pelikan 400 and a nice Omas? ;) he he he... just for ink tests? - help me! someone start an intervention, please...

BTW, I can't say enough good things about Noodlers. Just ran a test with the Legal Lapis last night, and soaked the paper I wrote on, dried it out, and it looks like it never even got soaked! Amazing. Definitely the ink(s) for someone who wants permanent writing.
