Inexpensive Fountain Pens

I'm interested in cheap fountain pens because the last time I had a really nice one, I lost it.

I currently have a new Lamy Safari extra fine nib and I love it. The only thing I'd change would be to have a slimmer pen -- this one is a little fat for where I keep it in my planner/purse.

Any suggestions for slimmer fountain pen that isn't expensive?

Or for that matter, any fountain pens that aren't expensive?

I'm on the waiting list for the Speeno now, but would like to know what the other options are out there.

pps- I'm also now keeping a large Moleskine Cahier for penmanship practice... if you search a bit you can find various old handwriting books here and there online... the best is Spencerian Business Script, I think, as it's not very flash, and was considered a "man's script." Finding books for practice on this one specifically hasn't gone too well for me... but I have a full book of Zaner&Bloser practice material from online. If you practice around 15minutes a day, they say you'll see differences within 2 weeks. I'm already noticing a little bit, and it's only been a week or so...

So an old dog can learn new tricks? There's hope for me yet.

A couple of things I've noticed. Not only is my handwriting better with the Lamy Safari, but also with the dip pen I bought from Pendamonium. The dip pen forces me to slow down. I'd hate to use it often, but it's fun to play around with.

I'm sure that a lot of my problems are they I simply fly through too fast when I'm writing and stop forming letters at all. But even beyond that, my initials are PB and as long as I can recall, I don't even write my own signature consistantly. Sometimes the P and B will look like "print" while the rest of the name is cursive. Then I was taught one way to form the letters, picked up another, then another, and I sometimes am not even consistent between the P and the B in the same signature.

Hmmph. Maybe SOME dogs can learn new tricks, but I never really even "learned" the old ones.
