Inexpensive Fountain Pens

I'm interested in cheap fountain pens because the last time I had a really nice one, I lost it.

I currently have a new Lamy Safari extra fine nib and I love it. The only thing I'd change would be to have a slimmer pen -- this one is a little fat for where I keep it in my planner/purse.

Any suggestions for slimmer fountain pen that isn't expensive?

Or for that matter, any fountain pens that aren't expensive?

I'm on the waiting list for the Speeno now, but would like to know what the other options are out there.

Parker Reflex

Just another quick cheap fountain pen review. I bought a Parker Reflex fp yesterday -- they were on clearance at Target for $5.50.

The good: Amazingly inexpensive, obviously. The nib is exactly the same as I remember from my Parker Vector fp (from around 1990). It's a good, smooth writer. It is somewhat thicker than the Vector. The cap fastens very tightly, both when closed and when posted.

The bad: It is made of very light plastic. It does not seem very durable, and is too light to be well-balanced in my hand. It has a "disposable" feel to it.

The ugly: it comes with a blue ink cartridge. The ink is too light-coloured for my taste, and the included ink also bleeds quite a bit on Moleskine journal paper, which Parker Quink black ink doesn't (very much) in my Shaeffer. Parker cartridges are a little harder than other kinds to find, but I'll probably be syringe-refilling this one anyway.

Summary: it's worth the price; probably even worth the non-clearance price of $8.00. If you want to use a fountain pen, but tend to lose pens, it might be worth using. It's not as good as the Vector fp that it seems to be the replacement product line for.
