Inexpensive Fountain Pens
pooks | Feb 13 2006
I'm interested in cheap fountain pens because the last time I had a really nice one, I lost it. I currently have a new Lamy Safari extra fine nib and I love it. The only thing I'd change would be to have a slimmer pen -- this one is a little fat for where I keep it in my planner/purse. Any suggestions for slimmer fountain pen that isn't expensive? Or for that matter, any fountain pens that aren't expensive? I'm on the waiting list for the Speeno now, but would like to know what the other options are out there. 31 Comments

The pen I use daily...Submitted by jason.mcbrayer on February 16, 2006 - 1:51pm.
The pen I use daily is a Shaeffer Triumph Imperial, which sounds expensive, but was only a $20 pen when it was being made in the '90s. I think the replacement line is the Shaeffer Javelin which is around the same price for the chrome-finish ones. I've always been happy with it, though it has leaked on me once. I used to use a Parker Vector, which was nice and also slim (which I didn't like). I think it's also no longer made in a fountain pen. I think it was a sub-$10 pen, too. Parker has a $7 fountain pen that I've seen at Target, but it looks flimsy. » POSTED IN:
