Inexpensive Fountain Pens

I'm interested in cheap fountain pens because the last time I had a really nice one, I lost it. I currently have a new Lamy Safari extra fine nib and I love it. The only thing I'd change would be to have a slimmer pen -- this one is a little fat for where I keep it in my planner/purse. Any suggestions for slimmer fountain pen that isn't expensive? Or for that matter, any fountain pens that aren't expensive? I'm on the waiting list for the Speeno now, but would like to know what the other options are out there. 31 Comments

I second the Pilot Varsity rec, although $7 is overpaying by a lot -- I think mine run about $3. I picked a couple up the last time I went shopping for disposable pens, because I realized when I saw them in the store that while I always keep good fountain pens around for fancy occasions, I'd lost the habit somewhere along the line of using them for day-to-day work. They're no match for the pretties, but these write much smoother than the disposable fountain pens I remember, and don't cost me any more than a decent rollerball. » POSTED IN:
