Ultimate LoFi... Keeping it all in your head?

OK so KIAIYH is heresy around here but I'm thinking about mnemonic techniques like memory champions use to memorise 1000 digit sequences and card players use to track multiple shuffled decks.

I'm happily MedFi at home and at work (a single plain old text file on computer -- although admittedly my text editor thinks its a programming language and folds, colours and formats it accordingly) but need something for when I'm out and about, mainly for capture.

I was thinking about maybe constructing a GTD "memory palace" in my head and using mnemonics to track stuff until I'm back at the computer. It would be a bit of effort to set up but it would be lightweight, hands-free and waterproof (though not necessarily alcohol-proof).

Just an idea.

Doh! I thought I was...

Doh! I thought I was spouting heresy but it turns out it was orthodoxy all along. (Assuming GTD Fast is considered 'canonical').

Still, I think the plate (/room/palace/whatever) has some advantages over the David's suggestion:

1. It collects all mnemonics into a single "in-tray" instead of leaving them strewn about the psychic landscape.

2. Its easy to trust. Not just because, when its got stuff on it, I know what that stuff is, wherever I am, but also because, when its empty, I know that its empty. I hadn't realised this last bit was going to be important, but it is.

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »
