Index Card Storage?
mdl | Jul 27 2006
Has anyone found a good, relatively cheap index card file? I use the little plastic boxes but would ideally like to get something with more ample room for my growing index card reference collection. I've hung around on ebay for ages, looking for old library card catalogues. But these get pretty expensive, and many of them are for pick-up only. They can also be pretty dingy. I would love a simple, new index card file (especially one made of wood). The ideal would be a single drawer unit with the possibility of buying additional units. Any ideas? Maybe I'm not looking in the right places... 13 Comments

And -- in a perfect world, how many drawers would you want in a system? I first thought one long drawer would be plenty. But even thinking about pulling out one long drawer and having everything all in the same drawer makes me itch, for some reason. Then I thought, "Two drawers, one for personal and one for writing/professional." But then I started thinking, Maybe I want four drawers, one for home projects, one for ... etc., etc. I don't want an entire big card catalog, but I'm having trouble figuring out how many drawers I do want. How do you or would you keep your cards, if you had enough to keep stored and not always carrying them all with you? » POSTED IN:
