Index Card Storage?
mdl | Jul 27 2006
Has anyone found a good, relatively cheap index card file? I use the little plastic boxes but would ideally like to get something with more ample room for my growing index card reference collection. I've hung around on ebay for ages, looking for old library card catalogues. But these get pretty expensive, and many of them are for pick-up only. They can also be pretty dingy. I would love a simple, new index card file (especially one made of wood). The ideal would be a single drawer unit with the possibility of buying additional units. Any ideas? Maybe I'm not looking in the right places... 13 Comments

CD Storage box?Submitted by Paul on July 29, 2006 - 12:51pm.
How about using a CD storage box of some kind? It's taller than you need for 3x5s, but the width is right, and you can get index card-sized tabs at an office supply store to organize the cards (I pay $0.08 each at the University Bookstore here. A great investment). I just saw some nice ones in Target's back-to-school section. They have some rather hip products under the label "Independent Studies." $4.99, I think. I'm sure there are also many, many other choices. » POSTED IN:
