Bag Organizers
R. Emory Lundberg | Mar 18 2006
Today I ordered a fleet of WaterField/SFBags gear pouches, an iPod supercase, and a CableGuy. They seemed to the best way to compartmentalize my assorted junk in my bag. I usually have two bags in my rotation: the Boblbee for my daily grind and carrying around cameras, a laptop, overnight/weekend trips out of town, and another bag for just around town and general erranding. The problem is that this means I have to sort and file and assemble various bits and pieces. It is my hope that this will aid in my swapping, since I can just grab the appropriate pouches based on what I want. Anyone else tried these? Anyone else found another solution that is elegant/stylish and servicable? 13 Comments

I love the Waterfield iPod...Submitted by pooks on March 20, 2006 - 9:11am.
I love the Waterfield iPod gear pouch, laptop sleeve, etc. If I needed anything else along those lines I'd certainly get more of their stuff. I think this is the very best way to handle bags of any sort for me. Whether I'm packing to travel or just packing for the daily grind, it's the most efficient and easiest way to handle "stuff." What I figured out (for me, at least) after buying way too many laptop bags, attaches, travel cases, etc. is that if they have lots of organizing pockets and pouches built in they are NEVER configured in a way that's practical for me, and I end up moving stuff from one place to the next trying to get it to work better, and finally tossing it in loose. Getting a bag that only has one or two compartments and then using my own individual pouches works MUCH better. Plus those bags usually way less than the ones that have all the sewn-in pockets and pouches. In fact, I guess this is similar, though it's a different kind of "bag organizing." I have some pics on dotmac of how I pack to travel: http://homepage.mac.com/patriciaburroughs/Personal12.html You have to click from there to part two, three and four. Whether we're talking travel or daily, what I've learned is that stuff kept in its proper stuff-bags takes up less space and is easier to deal with. Stuff that is loose expands, gets lost, and is a royal pain in the ass. » POSTED IN:
