Dressing for carrying stuff around?
Borganizer | Feb 13 2006
After reading this post by duien, I decided to get a filofax (a brand of organizers), since I want an ultra-portable system I can use whereever I am, and it (together with a pen) seems to do the trick. But I have no space left in my pockets and don't want to keep it in a separate bag, as I want instant access, all the time. So some wardrobe additions seem like a necessity. Right now, it consists of a bunch of jeans and ordinary shirts. I've considered cargo pants, but I think it's easier to whip it out quickly if it's located somewhere waist and above. What would you suggest? Is a dress shirt good enough? I read somewhere that putting notebooks in your shirt pocket wasn't that good, though I never understood why. Perhaps they fall out easily when you bend forward, or something. I also think a shirt pocket is a bit on the small side. My friends say I should use this opportunity to get better dressed, and buy a jacket too. A jacket pocket would probably be enough to fit a filofax in, but what about the summer, when it's hot? I doubt I could walk around in even a T-shirt and a jacket then. I see a market for filofax holsters emerging... 7 Comments

I like putting my Moleskine...Submitted by Chrome47 on February 13, 2006 - 5:11pm.
I like putting my Moleskine pocket planner in the inside pocket of a blazer, but I don't wear a jacket that much, since I don't meet with clients and things like that. For my system, I have a binder somewhat like a filofax but from Staples. In that are paper, of course, a spare pen, and in the pockets I put my notecards held together by binder clips. There are three of those with about 50 cards each, and one of those is my @ACTIONS group. Those are contextual, actionable items, with one to-do per card with the exception of grocery lists, etc. Then I carry a messenger bag that my girlfriend gave me for Christmas, and sometimes I put my Moleskine planner in a pocket there. I usually keep my binder in that, along with a sketchbook and file folders I might need access to on the fly. This way I can make my system fairly portable, taking only one or two items if I need to, or the entire thing if I need it. I've delineated it here. » POSTED IN:
