Due Dates on Tasks

Does anyone manage to effectively use due dates on tasks? I keep feeling the urge to assign them, even a range of dates. Pocket Informant uses those effectively, and will show any tasks active for a day on the calendar view. I know David Allen says this is forbidden in GTD, but I'm sure it works for someone.

I've found it incredibly useful to use Pocket PC's start and end dates for tasks. I don't think it's necessarily antithetical to date tasks in this way because they aren't really being assigned to a specific date. Instead, they are being turned into hybrid next action/tickler items. Know what I mean?

People seem to forget or gloss over the fact that priority is something that should be considered when completing your next actions, and I think assigning your tasks a start and end date, or a due date, helps to make sure that things happen, both in terms of preparation and relaxed control.

I was going to point you to this thread http://board.43folders.com/showthread.php?t=179 -- but I think we've already talked there. :)
