Explain what Triage means?

I'm wondering if someone can give me the low down on what "triage" means?
I've seen it used before, but for the life of me, I don't remember what it means in terms of productivity.

Cool thanks. I've seen the word used in some posting in the 43 Folders, and I felt I need some clarity in regards to how it is used in productivity. When looking through a job posting, I noticed this poster used the word "triage" as well.
Maybe it's not always a natural process to triage. I thought maybe it was.
