Peer-to-Peer compensation in the office

I was chatting with some people today about a program we have at my office that everyone I work with loves. We are empowered to give on-the-spot awards to our coworkers without management approval for up to USD$50. I had never encountered this program before, but apparently nobody else has ever heard of it, so I wrote it up on my website for those to share with their HR departments or senior management if they're interested. http://kvet.ch/articles/2006/03/11/peer-to-peer-compensation-in-the-office 2 Comments

A former large employer of mine did something similar. It was great. You got a $20 Amazon.com gift cert each time you won an award. Amazingly it wasn't abused. I'd love to do something like that at my currently company... at least within the department that I manage. But there are only 3 of us in the dept... so I'm not really sure something like this would work. » POSTED IN:
