This will sound silly, but recently I replaced my drip machine with a french press. Using drip, I just had to press the 'On' button in the morning and sink into a stupor in front of the computer until there was coffee. With the press pot, I have to boil the water, measure out the coffee, time the brew - I can't really leave the kitchen while I'm making it - and it gives me small chunks of time to do the little chores I would otherwise forget about, like unloading the dishwasher.

As an added bonus, I get one cup of really, really good coffee, instead of an entire pot of slightly mediocre coffee.
