2007 Resolutions/Goals
Brad Blackman | Dec 6 2006
It's almost that time of year again. 2006 is drawing to a close, and I find myself thinking about 2007 and how I can fine-tune my day-to-day activities to align with my bigger goals. What's everyone else thinking on this sort of thing? Or am I ahead of the game for once? (I usually don't start thinking about this sort of thing until February.) I might re-listen to Merlin's "Fresh Starts & Modest Changes" podcast series from early 2006. 8 Comments

You're spot on, Chrome. I've often toyed with the idea of an annual review. It does sync neatly with the idea of the weekly review, with each step ratcheted up 10,000 feet in David's parlance. For example, rather than making sure you have a next action for each project, you make sure you have a project for each area of focus (or, higher up, an area of focus for each longer-term goal). I think we all tend to avoid this type of high-level planning for two reasons. The first, of course, is that it's rarely urgent, unless you're hit by a major life event. Second, though, is that long-range planning leads us into the unfamiliar. Somewhere I read that it's like jumping off the dock when you don't know the depth of the water. » POSTED IN:
