Moving Tips?

Does anyone have any tips or ideas on moving, especially as filtered through the lens of GTD?

I bought a house that needs a little fixing up, and am in the middle of removing wallpaper, etc. I've created a rather lengthy list of things to do to the house in OmniOutliner Pro, but I wonder if anyone has any GTD-oriented ideas on moving.

Don't pay for styrofoam peanuts.

I haven't moved for over a decade, but in past moves, I could aways score free partial rolls of clean newsprint from the local newspaper to use as packing material. They yank the roll before it runs out on a printing run.

I was also able to get the used flexible metal printing plates for free to use as a substrate for Bondo to patch rust holes in my car. This was invaluable when I lived in a state with cold winters and salted roads, where you would flunk the annual vehicle inspection if any sections of your car had rusted through.

You could lie on a creeper board back then and read the last year's classifieds inside my front quarterpanel.

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »

Scared Shitless

Merlin’s scared. You’re scared. Everybody is scared.

This is the video of Merlin’s keynote at Webstock 2011. The one where he cried. You should watch it. »
