Moving Tips?
Brad Blackman | Aug 22 2006
Does anyone have any tips or ideas on moving, especially as filtered through the lens of GTD? I bought a house that needs a little fixing up, and am in the middle of removing wallpaper, etc. I've created a rather lengthy list of things to do to the house in OmniOutliner Pro, but I wonder if anyone has any GTD-oriented ideas on moving. 9 Comments

Wow, thanks for all the advice. I've already got my boxes pretty much sorted, and I'm planning a painting party this weekend. I haven't figured out how I'm going to actually move, but this week I probably will take a carload of stuff over there each night, since my house is about 10 minutes away from my parents' house, where I've lived for about a year. (I had an apartment before, and got sick of paying rent, then moved home and paid off my student loans.) Since my parents live in the same town, I'm not too worried about mail getting lost, but in a few weeks I plan to get all my addresses changed. It's really a matter of making a list of who needs my new address, then updating that information. Once I get moved into my home office, I plan to do a semi-purge of paper files. I've already got a bunch of "Give-It-To-Goodwill" boxes. Some things I might try to sell on eBay (vintage 70s shirts, anyone?) Good advice, everyone, and it's all common sense, really. But that common sense ain't so common, is it? Especially when you're in a hurry and tend to forget things. Keep the tips coming, y'all! » POSTED IN:
