Moving Tips?
Brad Blackman | Aug 22 2006
Does anyone have any tips or ideas on moving, especially as filtered through the lens of GTD? I bought a house that needs a little fixing up, and am in the middle of removing wallpaper, etc. I've created a rather lengthy list of things to do to the house in OmniOutliner Pro, but I wonder if anyone has any GTD-oriented ideas on moving. 9 Comments

keep track of address changesSubmitted by anielsen on August 22, 2006 - 7:14am.
Start making a list of everyone that needs to know your new address. Then ask yourself why they need to know your new address. I use moving as an opportunity to close accounts that I no longer need/use. You can start this before you move by changing addresses with places that you expect to get mail from (bank statements, etc.). The easiest thing to do is have your mail forwarded by the Post Office and every time something shows up with the yellow sticker, add it to your list and let them know you've moved. Save the list because it will be very useful the next time you move. Moving is also a good time to clean out your paper files because all that paper weighs a ton and is a particular pain to move. When you start packing make a box of donations and use it liberally. The worst thing you'll discover when you move in is that you've just spent time and energy moving a box of stuff that you don't really need anyway. » POSTED IN:
