Passport Expiration

A friend of mine just had to pay some big bucks because a week or so before she was set to leave to Japan she discovered that her passport had expired. So, I thought I would pass along the suggestion to mark your calendars as to when your passport is set to expire. 2 Comments

Another thing to be careful of in these days of heightened security - older passports (issued 5-6 years ago) may not be machine readable and this can cause problems entering some countries, especially the USA. Also you cannot transit the USA, that is stay in the international lounge waiting for a connection, without valid documents.
