quitting smoking: replacement stimulant
duus | Jun 5 2006
Hello. Any GTD smoking quitters out there? I'm quitting, and, well, I'm used to the constant stimulant. Of course, I'm still drinking coffee (and the constant imbibing of stimulants is bad for you and I exercise and that helps your energy more in the long run etc etc). Is coffee the only replacement stimulant for the cigarettes? It's really cutting into my productivity, and it will be very hard to maintain quitting if I'm at a permanently lower tier of work effort & focus. thanks! 10 Comments

I've recently quit smoking also,...Submitted by Nik_Doof on June 6, 2006 - 1:35am.
I've recently quit smoking also, but alot diffrently than you guys. I was addicted to the routine, for me it was something to kill time and the nicoteine addiction was just such a small part. After going cold turkey for a week the major side affects worn off and i could live my life as normal. I dont want to sound harsh, but patches are not a solution, its a interim solution to your smoking needs. If you want to quit it should be a full stop, having patches is like saying "i'll only smoke 3 today". The bad thing is, once your a smoker you'll always be a smoker, if you have one in the future then you've got a good chance you'll start again (its happened to me). I say, cold turkey, then keep yourself busy through your usual smoking breaks. You'll find it gets easier as time goes on. Each person has their own quitting routine, i guess its a matter of trial and error :) » POSTED IN:
