Take-out menu hack

This is stupid, but I found it to be a really useful little hack...

Background:
In my household, like many others, the time we get home from work +/- an hour is always tense. One of the many stressors of this time is ... "what are we going to do for dinner?"

Problem statement:
If the answer is "Let's go out/get take-out", the next question is the dreaded "where?". Usually, I get this question as I am driving home and leaving work mentally-drained and not at all ready to respond to any query in an intelligent and snappy way.

The hack:
I now keep a three-ring binder in the kitchen and have it labeled as "menus". This binder contains all of the local take-out menus and the menus of the places we frequent-- in alphabetical order of course. Now when my wife and I decide to get take out, we just consult the binder of pretty take out menus and pick whatever looks interesting.

Benefits:
No need to remember anything, no web surfing for phone numbers, coupons are right there, compare and contrast restaurants right under your nose, --plus, if you live in the city, as we do, the binder is a good place to put the take-out menus that are shoved in your doorstep.

i scan in my menus...

i scan in my menus because i'm just infuriated by the sea of menus.

but i'm thinking hard about putting them into a binder.
