Exercise Life Hack?
wilburwatkins | Dec 19 2005
Hey all! I'm looking for an effective workout life-hack that's 30-40 minutes 3-4 times a week that includes weightlifting and aerobics. I don't need to be "ripped" -- just want some basic fitness. I'm looking for the most bang for the time spent. (Exercises that use multiple muscle groups, etc.) Something between the unrealistic get fit for 5 minutes a day group and people who can spend two hours a day at the gym. I'm looking for some sedentary computer type who researched this and solved this problem. Anybody out there done this? Want to share your workout? Thanks! 31 Comments

I use the "Move more,...Submitted by lolindrath on January 5, 2006 - 6:02am.
I use the "Move more, Eat less" philosophy. To keep myself honest I use CalorKing.com * to log all my food and exercise. It recommends I burn 250 calories whilst exercising, this ends up being around 20 minutes on the elliptical and then I do legs, arms/chest or core exercises depending on the day. I just use the plain old machines they have lying around, no exercise balls or weights. This ends up being around 30 minutes a day and is pretty effective. I've lost around 17 pounds using this method which ends up being around 0.8 pounds per week (slow and steady wins the race, though, I'm trying to pick up the pace). Some days I'm really hungry and I eat over my calories and others I'm 500 calories under. It averages out in the end so as long as I'm not gluttonous on a daily basis I consider it a success. * CalorieKing just switched to a sweet AJAXed interface, makes adding/searching for food very simple and fast. Just make sure you don't get lost in the forums. All the people are really nice and its too easy to read all the threads. -=-=- » POSTED IN:
