Event-triggered next actions

You need to take Action X when a certain invoice arrives. You can't use a tickler or an alarm reminder because you don't know the date upon which the invoice will arrive. You could put a reminder in a Holding Until... device, but you have lots of similar pending actions. Daily review of Holding Until is time-consuming. What's the best way to deal with this?

Waiting Fors Get Reviewed Daily, Right?

If I'm not mistaken, David Allen's GTD system?at least as I understand it from the book?suggests following up waiting fors daily. If you review this list daily and put an item like "Waiting for Invoice X to arrive" on that list, this should keep things from slipping through the cracks, no?

That's how I handle tasks like these and it seems to be working fine for me.

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »

Scared Shitless

Merlin’s scared. You’re scared. Everybody is scared.

This is the video of Merlin’s keynote at Webstock 2011. The one where he cried. You should watch it. »
