Event-triggered next actions

You need to take Action X when a certain invoice arrives. You can't use a tickler or an alarm reminder because you don't know the date upon which the invoice will arrive. You could put a reminder in a Holding Until... device, but you have lots of similar pending actions. Daily review of Holding Until is time-consuming. What's the best way to deal with this?

I'm sort of grasping straws...

I'm sort of grasping straws here, but if I were in your position, I might simply add another daily review to my ever-growing list. Or, if I trusted that the sender of the invoice would do so, I'd request that they send me an email before they sent out the invoice so that I would look out for it.

If things like this happen often, maybe I'd have a checklist, some kind of procedure I'd go through before acting on specific items (like certain invoices).

Curious to see what others come up with.

Cranking

Merlin used to crank. He’s not cranking any more.

This is an essay about family, priorities, and Shakey’s Pizza, and it’s probably the best thing he’s written. »

Scared Shitless

Merlin’s scared. You’re scared. Everybody is scared.

This is the video of Merlin’s keynote at Webstock 2011. The one where he cried. You should watch it. »
